Early Learning Plan What outcomes and strategies are necessary to ensure that every child in Washington, birth through age eight, is healthy, capable and confident in school and in life? The Department of Early Learning, Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and Thrive by Five Washington, with the state Early Learning Advisory Council, are developing a long-term Early Learning Plan and recommendations for Governor Gregoire, at her request. The draft plan was released December 1st. Click here to read the documents.
Get Connected, Share Your Concerns and Be Informed! WAEYC, through the Early Learning Action Alliance, is continuing one former Collaborative activity and one new one: Quarterly Meetings with State Agencies Leaders from the Governor’s Office, the Department of Early Learning, the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction and other state agencies meet with early learning and afterschool advocates quarterly. The purpose is to share and discuss policy and budget matters of interest to policy makers and advocates. The next meeting date is yet to be determined. Click here for the minutes from the September meeting. Provider Caucus (Also see orange box below.) The last Provider Caucus was held Wednesday, January 20th. The purpose of the call was to share updates and take action on child care subsidy policy and budget issues this legislative session. Early Learning Partnership Resolution The leaders of OSPI, DEL and Thrive by Five signed a joint resolution laying out the vision for how the three entities will work together to create a statewide early learning system that supports school readiness for all children.
