STARS Reimbursement Program

STARS STARSIMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING STARS PROGRAM

 

Beginning February 2013, an online application for STARS Reimbursement will be available through the MERIT/DEL website.  Paper applications will no longer be accepted. We thank you for your understanding, cooperation and support during this time of transition, as we commit to giving you the best service possible.

To file your claim online, follow these instructions:

1)      Go to the MERIT homepage: https://apps.del.wa.gov/MERIT/Public/Login.aspx and sign in.

2)      Once you are signed in, go to the "Applications" tab.

3)      Select the "Training Reimbursement" application. (near the bottom of the screen)

4)      Follow the instructions to submit the application.

5)      You do not need to submit supporting documents such as certificates or receipts; your MERIT professional record will track this information for you in your training history.

6)      You will receive a confirmation email letting you know your application was received. Reimbursement checks are generally issued within 30 days.

  1. Ir a la pagina de inicio MERITO: https://apps.del.wa.gov/MERIT/Public/Login.aspx y firmar pulg

  2. Una vez que hayas iniciado sesion, vaya a la ficha "Aplicaciones".

Register for STARS ID

New to the STARS/MERIT System, click here to register for a STARS ID number.  Click on the grey box in the lower right hand side of the screen that reads "MERIT Registration".  Note:  If you previously registered for a STARS ID, but no longer have access to it, please call the Department of Early Learning (DEL) first before registering for a new STARS ID.

Do you also need to complete a background check for your employer?  Click the following link, DEL Background Checks, and follow the instructions to complete and turn in the form. Important:  make sure you submit/mail your application back to the Department of Early Learning office and not to WAEYC.

Conference Support and Scholarship

The Conference Support and Scholarship Program, sponsored by the Department of Early Learning, supports the professional development of child care providers by supporting the conferences they attend. STARS approved training organizations providing conferences may apply for support and scholarship funds. Funds are promised on a first−come, first−served basis until the available funds are distributed on a reimbursement basis.

New this year! Starting September 2012, in order for organizations to gain approval for your conference by the DEL, log into your MERIT account to complete and submit the Conference/Special Event Application. In addition, conferences that occur between January 1, 2013 and June 30, 2013 will be placed on a waiting list pending a new contract with DEL.

STARS Registry

Effective April 1, 2010, WAEYC no longer administers the STARS Registry. Department of Early Learning (DEL) designed a new online system to keep track of ongoing education and training called Managed Education and Registry Information Tool or MERIT. To request information about your STARS training, contact DEL at merit@del.wa.gov or (866) 482−4325 x8.

Conference Support

Trainers

The Department of Early Learning is implementing a new trainer approval process. The purpose of the approval process is to promote quality training opportunities around the state and establish a consistent process for reviewing all trainers. All new trainers will be required to go through the new trainer approval process beginning January 1, 2012. Currently approved trainers will be required to apply through the new process by September 1, 2012. Training Organization

Under the new trainer approval process, training organizations will no longer be approved. Training organizations will be able to provide administrative support to trainers affiliated with their organization. Organizations sponsoring conferences or out−of−state speakers will be able to apply in MERIT to offer STARS hours for that conference or special event.
